ABSENCE
KUBE Gallery, Genk, Belgium
21 May – 29 August, 2026

ABSENCE brings together objects that cannot stand on their own. A picture frame leans on crutches. A plaster form sits in a used wheelchair. Bandages hold them together without healing them. The exhibition looks at what remains when the structures that held a life (home, country, belonging) give way, and survival depends on temporary support.

Homeless
2026
Sculptural painting: oil on canvas, wooden frame, cardboard, crutches, bandages
200 × 117 × 20 cm
Also shown: KAF Young Art Prize finalists’ exhibition, Wrocław, 2026–2027
A damaged picture frame can no longer hold itself up. Resting on crutches, it becomes a stand-in for a body: wounded, unsteady, still upright. Medical bandages and torn cardboard bind it together but do not repair it. They protect, restrain and expose the damage all at once. Homeless is about what happens when the things that held a person (home, stability, belonging) collapse.

Status Quo
2025
Object / sculptural painting: oil, acrylic and polymer coating on plaster-bandage form, embroidered fabric bandage, used wheelchair, plastic sheeting
120 × 70 × 90 cm
A collapsing plaster form sits in a used wheelchair, tied with medical bandages. A wound breaks through an embroidered national symbol. Belarus appears as a body that cannot move: alive, but held in place by dictatorship.
